French Azilum

Sparks of the 1793 France Revolution lead to the exile/escape of loyalist to the King and Queen. They relocated to a bend in the Susquehanna River near present-day Towanda, Pennsylvania, near the Southern Tier New York boarder. This French Azilum provided refuge for a group of French exiles. It was believed that the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette and her two children may also use the Azilum as their new home, however, they were not able to escape.
