From the Officer's quarters at Old Fort Ontario to the original 19th Century sitting rooms inside the Richardson-Bates House, the City of Oswego is filled with historic places to visit. A rich, nautical theme prevails in Lake Ontario's Port city, "Where the Water never ends." From the late 1600's Oswego has been a center for international commerce, innovation, education, and cultural diversity. Some of the many historical milestones include the involvement in America's struggle for independence, The Battle of Oswego during The War of 1812, the Civil War, completion of the Erie Canal to the Great Lakes, support for the abolition of slavery, the end of women's suffrage, and the creation of a safe haven for WW11 Holocaust survivors. ...Site ...Search ...Map
